Swipz
(2026)
Swipz helps people decide where to eat by showing nearby restaurants one card at a time.
I co-founded Swipz with two partners and lead the technology: the iOS app, the web app, the backend, and the restaurant catalog behind them.
The current pilot is open to Kent State students in Kent, Ohio.

Case study
Swipz
What I focused on
For Swipz, I brought product thinking, interface design, and frontend engineering together around one clear problem.
Swipz is a restaurant discovery app built around one decision: where to eat right now. It shows one nearby restaurant at a time with photos, price, and distance.
Three gestures do the work. Swipe to move to the next place, double-tap to save it to a Liked list, and swipe up to see the menu, hours, happy hours, and directions. Swipz does not take orders or payments.
The app is built with Expo and React, backed by a Node and Express API with Postgres. The Kent pilot uses a reviewed catalog of 40 restaurants, each with a price tier, sourced hours, and written descriptions, and a dashboard lets the founders maintain those records.
Swipz is in an early pilot for Kent State students with an @kent.edu email. The iPhone app is available as a TestFlight test version, and there is a waitlist for broader access.
